Chinese Rug Cleaning
Oriental rugs or Chinese rugs are a
favourite and are common in most homes. These are very unique and make
homes feel more “homey” and warm. Some are very luxurious too with gold,
bronze, and red colour fibres and tassels in the corners. Chinese rugs
serve decorative purposes as well. People admire them for the
craftsmanship and the creative designs that can suit just about any
room. Chinese area rugs are often used for carpeting living rooms,
receiving areas, and even the master’s bedroom.
Chinese Oriental rugs may come in silk, wool, or
rayon. The type of Chinese rug cleaning that you do will depend on the
fabric or material that your rug is made out of.
Rug cleaning for Chinese silk rugs
One must take extra
precaution when it comes to Chinese silk rugs. Silk is a very delicate
material and is harder to clean as damage may occur. Chinese silk rugs
have intricate embroidery which may be destroyed by clumsy rug
cleaning. Rug cleaning of silk rugs is best left to the care of rug
cleaning professionals.
Rug cleaning for Chinese wool rugs
Chinese wool rugs, on
the other hand, are more manageable and easier to clean. Small Chinese
wool rugs can be cleaned at home with the proper rug cleaning know-how.
Vacuuming is the best way to remove soil, dirt, and dust from the
surface of your wool rug. If your rug becomes to dirty, wash the whole
rug with water and mild soap or a mild cleaning agent (Make sure to test
for colour run first) and afterwards leave it to dry out in the sun.
Rug cleaning for Chinese Rayon rugs
Rugs made from rayon are problematic.
Rayon is a synthetic material and is not very durable. Also, colours
tend to bleed most of the time. But if you have a rug made out of rayon,
just test for color runs and do not brush vigorously but only gently to
avoid fringes and damages. The same rug cleaning methods used for wool
rugs may be applied. Avoid overexposure to sunlight as rayon rugs easily
fade and shrink under such conditions.
If you want to avoid damages from
cleaning the rug yourself, consult rug cleaning professionals near you.
Some offer on-site rug cleaning though you may also just deliver the rug
to them and pick it up afterwards. Rug cleaning by professionals
generally take no more than 1-2 days depending on the size and condition
of your rug.
